helpful links to sites we love
Car-Part.com ®
This site provides a search engine for used auto parts in your area and links to other yards in your region. Body shops and insurance companies love this site because it is a very useful site! Be sure to enter your zip code to pinpoint your state/ region of the country, or you might find your parts in a distant region and shipping costs become an issue and problematic.
Consumers Reports ® Online
Here you can research car reliability reports, build quality and ratings of cars in a collision.
King County Library System
Most libraries provide auto repair databases, but the quality of this resource depends upon it’s brand. KCLS uses Chilton’s, not my first choice for manuals, but it’s free for library patrons that are enrolled. King County library also provides full access to Consumer’s Report.
YouTube ®
An excellent site on how to do anything to your car. Quality can be spotty as some videos were shot with a smart-phone, but many others are very good and professional quality. Always surprised and delighted when the most obscure mechanical problem is featured here with a remedy. Removing an ignition on $100K Porsche, we found a perfect video on how to do it!
wikiHow ®
Great people with helpful information but a little thin on car repairs.
Car Talk ®
Love these guys. Their website provides a listing of mechanics in your area, and you can listen to their shows online. Unsure if they rate shops but Angie’s List does.
Angie's List ®
Once a subscription pay site, it is now FREE and a good source for reviews of mechanic AND body shops in your area.
Automotive Touch Up
Touch Up Paint for your car: Great site. Locating the correct color of your car is sometimes tricky and confusing, and this site has worked out all the kinks, with detailed instruction how to locate the color code. And their products are excellent.
